So Geeta works with a girl whose Aunt is Christian's Mission President's wife/companion. She sent a message to her as follows:

Elder Fyffe is one of our best missionaries. I talked to him yesterday, he is doing fantastic! He was sent to the small island of Taenga, 70% LDS.  He is the first missionary to serve full time there.

Tell his Mom she can be real proud of him.

09/09/2014

Hey first off before I forget, Happy Birthday Grandma I love you!

So here is an update on what is going to happen these last few months of my mission. First I'm going to the mission home for a training reunion, since I will be training a new missionary out there. When the reunion is over, we will have the occasion to go to the temple, I'm not sure if we will have time though, since the member that is feeding us for my birthday, planned the dinner a little earlier in the day so that we could take our time eating ha. I'm so spoiled here for my birthday; this ward (like all of the other wards) has really become my family.

Today we spent most of our P-Day with a member family; they are making us hamburgers and fries for dinner! Next- I return back to Papeete and I stay the night there because my flight is the next day. That's when I will be out of contact for a while. The deal with that is (and I confirmed yesterday) there is no internet on Taenga. The nearest island that has internet is Makemo, which is an hour boat ride away. So I got permission from the president to go to Makemo if I needed at times, to send you all updates. But for the most part, I'm not going to be in contact with you guys.

I'm really excited to go; I remember the last time I was out in the islands I was really on a spiritual high. So I'm excited for that. The only concerns that I have are for my new companion. That's a lot to handle as a first sector. Fresh from the MTC then not being able to speak the language or talk to your family... So, pray for my comp.

I should be coming back to Tahiti a few days before the end of my mission; I will try to contact you all then. I love you all so much and thank the Lord every day for this time He has given me to grow in His gospel. I've definitely been so blessed and know that as I continue to put my trust in Him, no

matter what the situation, I will be guided and protected; so Ma, don't worry, I will be coming home this year!

I'm selling my bike and hope it will get me some extra cash when I come home. Do you think I will be able to exchange Tahitian money into American money without being too ripped off when I get home? Well, I'm probably going to find time to email you guys one last time before I leave. I love you all, I love my mission! The church is definitely true.

08/31/2014

It’s been raining a ton lately, so I've been a little sick
because we've been out in the rain. I've got some good news though,
our mission president chose the 4 best missionaries in the mission to
go on a special assignment. He named the project, commandos of the
lost islands, and I'm one of them haha. I'm going to be finishing my
mission on a tiny little island called taenga. It’s back in the
tuamotus (the islands that I served in when I was in Hao.)Anyway,
this little island hasn't received missionaries before, there are only
80 people on the stinkn thing! So I really will be out of contact for
the last 3 months of my mission! I leave the 11th of September,
president said that I was the only missionary that could be sent to
this island because I have the qualities that he needed for the job.
I'm an assistant now, which is also really cool. I'm extremely anxious
to get out there and meet my new family. I'm pretty sure that I will
know everyone dang well before I leave. Giving that there are only 80
people that live out there! So, I haven't gotten the package yet, but
I pray I will get it before I leave. I have to take a plane and a boat
ride to get to Taenga, so if I don't get it before I leave, it will
have to wait until the end of my mission. This is just to let you all
know that its normal that you won't be getting emails from me these
next few months, sorry, but it’s what the lord needs of me. I love my
mission, I'm glad I will be finishing out in islands. It’s definitely
more my style. I will try to email one last time before I go, bit of I
don't... See you all in 3 months!
