Hello everyone! Well ever since i got to the MTC all i have been hearing from the other Elders is i just have to make it to the first Sunday and everything will go smooth from there. Well i made it to the first sunday and i can testify that they were right. Having gotten into a normal schedual now im not totally lost all of the times. Just most of the time now. Good thing my companion Elder Millet is always following me around. I know its a rule to stay together, but i still just feel like im being followed 24/7. I just realized that i forgot my camera to send you all some of my pictures... shoot. Well im here for 9 more weeks, so its not too big of a deal. Ive got to say that recieving letters from all of you has really helped me a lot! I cant wait to get back to my residence and read them at the end of the day! One of my biggest concerns about my mission was the MTC, i didnt know if i was going to be able to handle going to church every day for 11 weeks, but its not really that big of a deal anymore. I really am just enjoying every second of it. The days are long, the weeks are short, but the company is incredible. Oh and boy howdey has the gift of tongues helped me so far. I practically forgot all of my french, i realized this on the first day when i had no idea what the teacher was saying to the class.; Now only 5 days later, im understanding almost everything he is saying. I can bear my testimony in french, i can say my prayers and i can get my message across to all the elders when i need to speak in french. Its amazing to me how much good the MTC is doing for me. Ive also stuck to my goal of finishing the book of Mormon while i am in the MTC. I wake up every morning around 5 and read for one hour before my companion is up. Im already almost done with the book of Jacob! and im understanding it all....except for Isiah, He seems to be smarter that Stephen Hawking. Its feels like i have been here forever and i have a long way to go, but i just keep getting more and more excited to serve the more i learn. Im the "funny guy" in the class as they say, and the Elders have started a quote book for all of the weird stuff i say, yes its distracting to them at times, but i cant help it! When i first got into the MTC there was only one thing on my mind, I want my name tag! And when a Sister put it on my pocket, in my mind, i was officially a missionary. Now every time i look at it i almost get teary eyed, because i now understand in a far more deeper sense of how important the work i am doing is. Heavenly Father knows my name, he is sending me to Tahiti for a reason and mytestimony on that is now stronger than ever. My testimony of the book of mormon is also stronger than ever, the comfort and guidence it brings me helps me start each day with a smile. I know i am on the right path, and there is no place i would rather be than serving the lord for the next two years. Austin, if you get a chance to read this, i want you to know how much i care for you and am so excited that you will be able to go through this soon just like i am. It is far more special than i ever imagined. I love it here, and i know you will too. Trace, make sure you are going to church and learning all the bible stories and gaining a testimony on each of them, its a lot harder to do that when you are so busy at the MTC, you can trust me on that one. Now to my Cutie-Manda, Andrew was right, it destroys you when you let yourself think too much about your significant other. I literally catch myself frowning sometimes when i think of how much I miss you. BUT! Im doing great, and i know you are too. Just stay safe, that is all i ask. With the help from my heavenly father, i will not be tempted above which i am able to handle. Everything will be okay. I LOVE YOU TEESHA! I miss my little sister, and my tiny mom, and my dad. Keep sending me letters, okay? I love you all so much and i cant wait to see you all in two years. Thank you all for pushing me in the right direction to get out here. Its the best decision ive ever made. Well my time is running ou so just wait until next tuesday for the next email for some more stories! Je T'aime!

11/14/2012- What an emotional day for us all! We were fine during the morning and even into the afternoon! We went to Yamato in Orem for a sort of "Last Supper" for a while. We had good fun there with Austin, Teesha, Christian, Geeta and I. Teesha had a mouth full of sushi and Christian and Austin made her laugh. Well, she wasn't able to keep it in her mouth and we all had a good laugh.
     After finishing up there, we went outside and Austin was advised to say his goodbyes (he brought his own car). Everything was just fine until Austin started to whimper and whine. Talk about funny and sad at the same time. We all were crying and laughing and at that point it was useless. I threw on my sunglasses and we got in the car to head down to the MTC to drop Christian off. Once there, Teesha was making whimpering noises and Geeta was starting to get emotional. I was doing actually better than I thought and managed to hold it together for everyone even during the goodbye and drop-off. (Christian of all times to have a nature call had one thing on his mind- the men's room) We dropped him off and it was a kind of twilight zone silence in the car as we were driving away. About a mile or two down the road it caught up with me and I had a burst of sadness overcome me. Pretty pathetic- Stink!
     We all will miss the guy sooooo much, and little emotional tid-bits throughout the next few days has been the trend so far. (Those who have dropped of their missionaries know all about this phenomenon.) Geeta and I agree that we would much rather have him in the company he's in right now, than with anyone else in the whole world. Yes, even us. 

     We will try to post the pics of Austin when he responds (I used his camera to snap a few candid photos when he was whining at Yamata). Until then, enjoy these pics...

1st Companions as a set apart missionary

Christian's cousin Austin was a perfect companion after being set apart Tuesday night (11/13/2012)
We found the two Elders this morning eager to preach the gospel of "Can we get out of the house, we're going stir crazy" My response? Sure, but we have to read scriptures first. :)

Christian brought to my attention the site "dearelder.com" which allows you to send a letter to him at the MTC via email. Here's how it works:

1. Click on the link to the left entitled "Dear Elder.com"
2. Fill in the pertinent data like "To" "From" etc.
3. Send the letter...

What will happen?  When the email form is sent by 12:00 (Noon), the MTC will print the message and deliver it to his box in the form of a letter at 12:30pm that same day. This is done daily (Weekdays)

The Cuz Club

Meeting with the French Consulate

 

 

A group of Elders went to San Fransisco to meet with the French Consulate to get signatures on their Visas. Afterwards they were shuttled to a nearby restaurant for lunch, back to the airport and flew back home. What a handsome bunch!
